There’s No Place Like Home
GROUP EXHIBITION CURATED BY CLOE PICCOLI
There’s No Place Like Home is an exhibition that reconfigures the conceptual framework of domestic space: at once beguiling and dysfunctional, classical yet subversive, hospitable yet disquieting, seductive yet politically charged. By interrogating architecture, spatial dynamics, objects, and their functions, There’s No Place Like Home engages in a critical dialogue with some of the most compelling explorations of domesticity, from Womanhouse by Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro (Los Angeles, 1972) to the interventions of Dan Graham and Robert Smithson (California, 1972). In doing so, it articulates a trenchant critique of patriarchal, hegemonic, and heteronormative structures. There’s No Place Like Home systematically dismantles the bourgeois ideal of home, reframing it as a site of tension and subversion.
